These spells were taken from The Complete Book of Magic And Witchcraft by K. Paulsen

To Heal Pain one has inflicted

“…if any one shall be sorry for any blow that he hath given another afar off or nigh at hand, if he shall presently spit in the middle of that hand with which he gave the blow, the party that was smitten shall presently be freed from pain.”

Sleep & Dreams

  1. Write a charm on a palm leaf, hold it in your right hand over smoke of dummala powder thrown into the coals with your left. Then throw it into the house to be enchanted, and all will sleep till you step into cold water (Ceylon).
  2. Sleep with your head pointing east for intelligence, South for wealth; but if you sleep with your head west, you’ll be care-worn, and north, you may die (Indian)
  3. Tell your bad dreams to the sun, and they will leave you (Persian)

A broken spear head worn around the neck will keep a young girl chaste, but makes a woman fertile (Zuni)

For Success

  1. “If any man shall have celandine with the heart of a Mole, he shall overcome all his enemies and all matters in suit and shall put away all debate.”
  2. For conquest in war, sports, or gambling, wear an amulet made with three points, in trident form, from five metals (gold, silver, copper, gray bronze, and yellow bronze). Wear it in a knot of hair at the back of your head or in a hat (Ceylon)

For Luck

Wear the feathers of an owl, or a bears tooth, on the middle of the back of the inside of your jacket (Eskimo)

For Protection

Wear a minature sword in a gold or silver sheath (Ceylon)

Against sorcery & the evil eye

  1. To protect a house from evil and sorcery, make a horseshoe red hot, hang it over the entrance and never remove it. To keep away evil spirits and bad dreams, nail it to your bed
  2. “If the incubus oppress a man, take lupine and garlic and betony and frankincense, bind them in a fawn-skin; let him have them on his person and let him go indoors with them.”
  3. To prevent witchcraft, the evil eye, and disease wear a charm of wood, bone or ivory in the shape of the left hand clenched with the index and the little finger extended or open. Such an amulet is sometimes called a Hand of Glory
  4. To prevent the evil eye, wear suspended from the neck and tied together with red thread, a tooth, a piece of red cloth or wool and a nut on which magical characters or pictures may be painted
  5. For protection against spells carry a hair-ball from an animal’s stomach with you (Voodoo)

Wear birds bones in your clothes

Remedies

“Tie up the sting of a Scorpion, and the extremity of the Herb Basil, in which the Seed is, and a Swallow’s heart in a Deer’s skin, and you will cure lunaticks; and this phylactery both casts out disobedient Devils and compels them to go away.”

To Prevent Sleep

Bind the eyes of a frog with the flesh of a nightingale in the skin of a hart, place them near the person you wish to keep awake

For Invisibility

Wear a thumb cover made from the ear of a black cat boiled in the milk of a black cow

Hand of Glory

The hand of glory is made of the right hand of a murderer severed during an eclipse of the moon, and dried and preserved. It is used in spells, especially those of black magick. If a candle is placed in a hand of glory, only the person using it can see it. Carried into the house at night, it will prevent the inhabitants from waking.
