This is a meditation to lessen the noise and blocking the thoughts in your mind.
Although simple, it is one of the most important meditations a person can do, it teaches you to block any interruptions to give you a clearer and stronger focused meditation
This meditation forms the basis for all other mediations, you cannot meditate correctly if you have not learnt how to block out external or internal distractions
Method
It will be quite hard to block the sounds and thoughts for a while, but as with anything, practice makes perfect.
Personally, I would suggest starting every meditation with Void. However, this is optional
Find a place where you are comfortable
Begin by finding a space to look at. This can be on a wall in front of you, anything that draws your attention
Continue to sit and look at this space
Gently steady your breathing, lowering it until it becomes rhythmic
Slowly close your eyes, focus your mind on the blackness and just listen to your breathing
If you hear anything, or any thoughts come into your head, just push them aside…hear them get fainter as they get further away from you
Continue to do this for as long as you can
When you are ready, slowly open your eyes to end the meditation
